Claude Eugene Rex – December 7, 1895 – March 11, 1953
OSAGE – Services will be Saturday morning at Sacred Heart Church for Claude Rex, 67, who died Wednesday evening at the Mitchell County Memorial Hospital, having been in failing health for some time.
He was born December 7, 1895, to Martin and Claola Rex, at Park Rapids, Minnesota. He moved to Marble Rock as a child with his parents and was graduated from the Marble Rock High School. He was employed at Greene Produce.
On November 24, 1910, he married Charlotte McMahon of Greene. They established their first home at Greene. He managed a store at Packard, Iowa, then enlarged and renovated the Greene Product Company, becoming manager and purchased the telephone exchange at Greene in 1922.
He began the Rex Locker Plant in Osage in 1937 having purchased a farm near Osage. He enlarged the business to include plants at St. Ansgar and at Riceville and later sold his interest to his son and daughter, and retired in 1948.
He leaves his wife, one daughter; Mrs. Robert Woolm, Osage; one son; Marvin of Long Beach, California; seven grandchildren; a brother; Carl, Marble Rock; and three sisters; Mrs. Rex Curtis, Charles City; Mrs. Glen Gates, Alhambra, California; and Mrs. Vi Bloss, Modesto, California. Preceding him in death were a brother, Fred and three sisters; Mrs. Dell Sanford; Mrs. Elizabeth Fuller; and Mrs. Minnie Clay.
