Martin Daniel Rex – May 23, 1851 – February 6, 1919

Martin D. Rex was born in Ohio May 23, 1851, and died in Marble Rock, February 6, 1919.

He came to town in 1857, and was married to Miss Claola Winchell July 31, 1867. To this union were born nine children as follows: Mrs. Franz Sanford of Minnesota; Mrs. C. B. Fuller of Rockford, Iowa; Fred and Carl of Marble Rock; Mrs. J. A. Clay of Charles City; Mrs. Fred Bloss of California; Claude of Greene, Iowa; Mrs. Glenn Gates and Mrs. Harry Curtis of Marble Rock; all of the children being present at the funeral except Mrs. Bloss.

Besides his wife and children he leaves to mourn his death thirteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, two brothers and two sisters and a host of friends in and around Marble Rock.

He was a member of the Christian Church.
Funeral services were held in the late home Saturday February 8th, at two o’clock, and the body laid at rest in the Hill Side Cemetery.
