Ida Gashel and John Jerome Govro were married on 26 Nov 1896 in Mason City, Cerro Gordo, IA.
Celebrate Golden Wedding Fifty years of married life -- fifty years spent facing life's sunshine and storms together -- was fittingly observed Sunday, November 24, by Mr. and Mrs. John Govro, when their Golden Wedding anniversary was celebrated.

A dinner for the family and close relatives, numbering eighteen, was served at the B & B Cafe Sunday noon. Open house was held from 2 to 5 o'clock in the social room of the Methodist church where 150 relatives and friends called to extend felicitations. Baskets of yellow chrysanthemums were used as decorations. A beautifully appointed table extended across one side of the room. Covered with a table cloth of lace, it was centered with a beautifully decorated three-tier wedding cake bearing a miniature bridal couple. Tall white candles with crystal holders tied with bows of gold lace ribbon and bouquets of yellow baby "Mums", gleaming silver and white with gold monogrammed napkins completed the table setting. Refreshments of ice cream in gold rosebud fashioned cups and wedding cake were served all guests.

Assisting in the serving were Mrs. Vern Mosher, Mrs. C. E. Bruce, Miss Lillian Woelfer of Rockford, and Mrs. Roy Peet, Mrs. Kenneth Fox and Mrs. Ray Gardner, all of Waterloo. Margaret Riepe of Nora Springs had charge of the quest book. LaVerne Bakeman at the piano provided lovely music. Misses Betty Smith and Patty Hubbard sang a group of old-time favorite songs. The honor guests received many lovely gifts, which filled a long table in a corner of the room, and bore mute evidence of the esteem in which they are held.
