Michael M. Maxson, 55, of Waterloo, Iowa, died Wednesday, December 20, 2006, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home.

He was born on July 23, 1951, in Charles City, Iowa, the son of Dean and Irene Louise Oswald Maxson. He married Diane Zingg on November 16, 1974, in Cedar Falls, Iowa. He graduated from Cedar Falls High School and was self-employed as Maxson Construction. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

Michael had been a member of the Cedar Falls Karate Club, the Cedar Falls Gun Club, Homebuilders Association, and a member of the local Bowling Association. He was an avid reader and loved working on his land. Most importantly he loved his family and God.

Survivors include his wife, of Waterloo; a son, Michael Maxson, of Waterloo; a grandson, Jaden Maxson, of Waterloo; two brothers, Douglas (Sharon) Maxson, of Goldfield, and David (Lynn) Maxson, of Grundy Center; a sister, Patricia (Jim) Schmolt, of Cedar Falls; and his sisters and brothers by marriage: Sharon (Larry) Wheelock, of Waterloo, and Susie (Mark) Lown, of Arizona, and Randy (Ruth) Zingg Sr., of Arizona; also his much loved nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and his parents by marriage, George and Justine Zingg.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at First Christian Church Cedar Falls, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery Cedar Falls where full military rites will be conducted by Waterloo American Legion Post 138 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1623. Public visitation will be from 3 until 8 p.m. Friday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway. Visitation will continue for one hour before services at the church on Saturday.
