MRS. C. HALSTEAD BURIED AT MARBLE ROCK

Ellen Jane Sours was born in Wadsworth, Ohio, September 29, 1857, and entered into rest on February 5, 1929, at her home of Arpin, Wisconsin, at the age of 71 years, 4 months and 7 days.

She was the second child of Samuel and Ann Sours. She was united in marriage with John Artemus Ritter on October 27, 1878, who preceded her in death on November 7, 1918.

To this union were born eight children, six boys and two girls, all of whom survive her. Harry of Geogory, South Dakota; Lloyd, Paul and Mrs. Will Hank, of Arpin, Wisconsin; Phillip, of Aredale, Iowa; James, of Marble Rock, Iowa; Sam and Mrs. Ed Shultz, of Greene Iowa.

She also leaves one sister and four brothers; Mrs. Mayme Paley, of Elizabeth, New Jersey; Samuel, of Arpin, Wisconsin; Phillip,of Marble Rock; Roy, of Charles City; and Lew, of Iowa Falls. Thirty-one grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren also survive. She united with the Christian Church at Marble Rock during girlhood.

In December 1922, she was again united in marriage to Columbus Halstead, who has been a loyal faithful companion in these past few years and has made them happy by a constant devotion to her care. She leaves to mourn her loss this loyal husband and children, who will deeply miss her loving counsel and companionship.

Funeral services were held at the Christian Church at marble Rock, Saturday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock, conducted by Rev. G. A. Hess, Charles City. Interment was in the West Side Cemetery.

The Yuletide Season this year was not only one of Christmas bells but also of wedding bells for two of Marble Rock's citizens.
On Wednesday evening December 20th, Mr. Columbus Halstead and Mrs. Ellen J. Ritter were united in marriage by Rev. C. A. Smith
