Russell Z. Bailey
Birth: July 27, 1838, Bedford, Cuyahoga County, Ohio
Death: February 2, 1918
Russell Z. Bailey was born in Ohio, on 27 July 1838. In 1850 his family moved from Ohio to DeKalb, Illinois. Eleven years after moving to DeKalb, at the outbreak of the Civil War, Russell became a Private in Battery G, 2nd Illinois Light Artillery. He served with Battery G until the end of his enlistment, on 4 October 1864.
In 1865 he married Cora Robison in Sycamore, Illinois. In 1866 he moved to Marble Rock, Iowa. In Marble Rock he became a very prosperous farmer, owning approximately 440 acres. It was said that in 1870 he built one of the best farm houses in Floyd County.
Russell and his wife had four sons named: Loey R. Bailey, Elroy B. Bailey, Leon A. Bailey, and Earl R. Bailey.
Russell's pension paperwork states that he died 2 February 1918.
Burial: Hillside Cemetery, Marble Rock, Floyd County, Iowa.
