Harland Ray Dowd – June 9 1893 – May 10, 1947

Nashua – Ray Dowd, 53, died Saturday of a heart ailment. He was born June 9, 1893, in Floyd County Iowa, the son of Louis L Dowd and Addie (Judd) Dowd.

He leaves his second wife, the former Dorothy Smith of Powersville; and a daughter, Marie Dowd, by his first marriage.

The Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Powersville Church with burial in Pleasant Grove Cemetery. The body is at the Chenoweth Funeral Home here.

Note* His first wife was Leanor Cormier according to the 1925 Iowa Census for his daughter Marie’s father and mother.

His first wife must have died in childbirth or shortly thereafter , as Marie was born around 1918 and Harland is already married to Dorothy in the 1920 Census.

His second wife was Dorothy Smith, the daughter of Will Smith and Melissa (Westervelt) Smith.
