ELMORE NELSON, ROCKFORD, DIES
Charles City – Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Blake Funeral Home in Rockford for Elmore Nelson, 88, who died Monday night at his Rockford home following a stroke Saturday.
He had been in poor health for the past two years. The Rev. George w. Baker, pastor of the Rockford Methodist Church, will officiate, and burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Rockford.
Mr. Nelson was born January 10, 1865 in Sweden. He came to the United States when he was about 20 years old. He was a retired farmer, having lived in the Rockford vicinity since coming to the United States.
He was married to Agnes B. Cooper, April 4, 1906Survivors include his wife, and three sons; Merle of Rockford; Morris E. of Wausau, Wisconsin; and Marshall J. of Albert Lea, Minnesota; and one daughter; Mrs. P. M. Rhodes, of Portland, Oregon; two sisters; Mrs. Emma Anderson, of Sweden and Mrs. P. J. Scheid, of Mason City; and seven grandchildren.
His parents, one daughter and three brothers, preceded him in death.Mason City Globe Gazette, Wednesday February 4, 1958
