NORA SPRINGS, IOWA - Jack Irvin Davison, 81, of Nora Springs, died Tuesday, August 7, 2012, at Nora Springs Care Center in Nora Springs.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 9, at the First United Methodist Church, 119 S. Georgia, with the Rev. Sean McRoberts officiating. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today, Wednesday, Aug. 8, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery with Veterans Honors performed by the Mason City Veterans Memorial Association.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Jack Davison memorial fund in care of the family. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.majorericksonfuneralhome.com .

Jack was born June 27, 1931, at 928 North Harrison in Mason City, Iowa, the son of William "Bill" and Pearl (Turnbull) Davison. He attended and graduated from Rock Falls High School in 1949. He was married to Nada Callahan on March 20, 1955, at the Methodist Church in Nora Springs, Iowa, to this union three children were born, Linda, Mary Jo and Bruce.

After graduation Jack farmed and worked at Decker's Packing Plant. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1951 where he served on the USS Pine Island and was honorably discharged in 1955. He then farmed and worked at the Nora Springs Creamery and had dairy cows for eighteen years, did custom spraying and ran Shell Rock Snowmobiles in rural, Nora Springs.

Jack loved to fly airplanes and obtained his Pilot's license at the age of 16. He enjoyed playing golf, playing cards, fishing, woodworking, attending his grandsons sporting events, morel mushroom hunting in Michigan and Iowa, traveling in his R.V. and wintering in Tucson, Arizona, with his wife Nada. While in Arizona. Jack enjoyed going to garage sales with his buddies every Saturday. Jack enjoyed meeting new people while traveling the country, some of which became life-long friends. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was a life member of V.F.W. Post 733 in Mason City, American Legion Post 0073 in Tucson, and the First United Methodist Church and the Milk Producers Association where he served on many boards in many capacities through the years. While wintering in Tucson he was also a member of the Casa Adobes Congregational Church where he enjoyed volunteering.

Jack is survived by his wife of 57 years, Nada Davison of Nora Springs; his children, Linda Harrison and husband Joe of Gowrie, Iowa, Mary Jo Rapp and husband Dave of Ankeny, Iowa, and Bruce Davison and wife Sandy of Nora Springs; grandchildren, Jamie Barker and special friend Josh Wolfe of Pella, Iowa, Matthew Barker and wife Adrienne of Des Moines, Iowa, Collin Harrison and fiancée Megan Leiser of Prairie City, Iowa, Jordan Davison and wife Alanna Davison of Plymouth, Iowa, Dylan Davison of Mason City, and Cole Davison of Nora Springs; great-grandchildren, Jackson, Madyson, Carter and Grant Barker and Raegan Davison; brother-in-law, Johnny Callahan and wife Bernice of Austin, Minnesota.

He was preceded in death by his parents; William and Pearl Davison; grandparents, John and Hannah Davison and Bert and Lulu Turnbull; sister in law and brother in law, Marge and Darrell Deets.
