Velmas D. Nauman, 82, of the I.O.O.F. home in Mason City, Iowa, and formerly of the Rockford area, died on Monday, June 28, 1993, at the I.O.O.F. home.

Funeral services were held on July 1, 1993 at the St. Luke Lutheran Church in Nora Springs, with Rev. Christopher Clarkson officiating. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery in Rockford.

Velma D. Nauman was born on September 19, 1910, in Lemon, South Dakota, the daughter of William and Martha (Wells) Lee. She was raised and grew up in the Rockwell area. She was united in marriage to Walter Oscar Nauman on September 18, 1931. He preceded her in death in 1966. After their marriage, they farmed together in the Rockford, Rudd, Nora Springs, Greene and Dougherty areas until her husband's death. She also worked for the I.O.O.F. home in Mason City from 1967 until 1970. She enjoyed reading Westerns, bingo, and playing cards.

She has been a resident of the I.O.O.F. home since 1989. She was a volunteer at the VFW in Mason City.

Survivors include two daughters; Donna and her husband Roger Ebeling of Windom, Minnesota, and Cheryl Ann and her husband Ray Schroeder of Ottertail, Minnesota; four sons; Lyle Nauman, Sr. of Dayton, Wyoming; Gerald and wife Barbara Nauman of Windsor, Missouri; James Nauman Sr. and wife Clarice of Rockford; and Larry and wife Jodie Nauman of Mason City, eleven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren as well as other relatives.

Besides her husband she was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Harold and Earl Lee and one sister, Elda Paulsen.
