Services for Rev. John J. Naumann, 49, professor of psychology at Loras College, were held on Monday, May 17, 1993 at the Church of the Nativity in Dubuque, under the direction of Gene Siegert and Son Westview Funeral Home, and on Tuesday, May 18, at St. Mary's Catholic Church at Roseville, Floyd County, Iowa. Reid's Funeral Chapel of Marble Rock assisted with the local arrangements.

John J. Naumann was born on April 19, 1944 in Charles City, Iowa, a son of William J. and Magdalen (Koenigsfeld) Naumann, and died on Friday, May 14, 1993 at his home in Dubuque.

He graduated from Loras College, and attended Mount St. Bernard Seminary and Aquinas Institute in Dubuque, and St. Mary's Seminary in Baltimore. He was ordained on May 27, 1970. He received his doctorate degree in psychology from Fordham University, New York, in 1980.

Rev. Naumann was an associate pastor at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City, in 1970, and was associate pastor at the Church of the Nativity, Dubuque, from 1970-1973. He was on the Wahlert High School faculty from 1973-1975, and from 1975 until his death, was professor of psychology at Loras College. He was vice rector of St. Pius X Seminary at Loras College since 1981, and was chaplain at Clarke College since 1987.

Living family members include his mother, Magdalen Naumann of Marble Rock; a sister, Janet M. Zimmer of Edgewater, Maryland; and four brothers: Philip J. of Coldwater, Ohio, Joseph E. of Des Moines, Charles R. of Greene, and Paul W. of Iowa City.

He was preceded in death by his father, William J. Naumann, in 1970.

Memorials may be given to Loras College.
