CHARLES CITY, IOWA - Leonard King, 91, of Charles City, died Friday, August 3, 2012, at the 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.

Funeral services for Leonard King will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, at the Hauser Funeral Home. Pastor Sam Mack will officiate. Burial will be in Sunnyside Memory Gardens rural Charles City. There will be a flag presentation by the Charles City Ceremonial Unit.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and an hour prior to the service on Wednesday.

The Hauser Funeral Home, in Charles City, 641-228-2323, is in charge of arrangements.

Leonard Earl King was born October 28, 1920, in Butler County, the son of Clark and Ruth (Beyer) King. He graduated from Marble Rock High School. Leonard proudly served in the United States Army.

On April 25, 1943, he was united in marriage to Irma Smith at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Leonard farmed for several years and also worked as a farm hand. He was employed at Olive/White Farm Equipment Company for 29 years and was a salesperson for Rexair. His interests included fishing, junking, going to flea markets and dancing. Leonard was a member of the Cedar Rock CB Club where he had served as president.

Living family members include four grandchildren, Shawn (Toleka) King of Charles City, Dan (Rachel) King of Cedar Rapids, Jeff (Chris) King of Osage and Mike King of Charles City; Nine great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Susan King of Charles City.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; three sons, David, Francis, and Larry King; and a daughter in infancy, Donna Jean King.
