Dorothy (Mrs. Ben) Kruse, 74, of Charles City, Iowa, died on Tuesday, June 8, 1993, at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital. Her funeral services were held Saturday morning at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Charles City, with Rev. D. Dawes officiating. Burial was in the Riverside Cemetery.

Dorothy Elizabeth Marth Kruse was born on August 22, 1918, in Floyd County, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Anna Adolph Marth. She received her education in the rural and Rockford schools, graduating from Rockford High School.

On November 25, 1945, she and Benjamin J. Kruse were married in the Little Brown Church at Nashua. They farmed northeast of Charles City for 25 years. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church. She taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and worked with many children's Christmas programs at the Flood Creek Church and the Central Methodist Church. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother and a girls's 4-H leader. She was a former member of the Charles City Women's Club, the Starr Home Board, the Pythian Sisters, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Women of the Moose.

Living family members include a son and his wife, Tim and Sharon of Kamrar; a daughter, Ann Kruse, of Denver, Colorado; three sisters: Janet Rowley of Iowa City, Luella Brandau of Rudd, and Ruth Koehler of Charles City; and four brothers: Lloyd Marth of Rudd, Lester Marth of Mason City, Harold Marth of Rockford, and Richard Marth of Cedar Rapids.

There are four grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and nine step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ben, in 1990, and a brother, Melvin.
