GREENE, IOWA - Funeral Mass for Melvo Majewksi, 88, of Greene, will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 4, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greene, with Rev. Msgr. Walter Brunkan officiating. Burial will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery, Greene. Visitation will be from 4:30-7 p.m., Friday, Aug. 3, at Reid's Funeral Chapel, 519 N. First St. Greene with a Scriptural Wake and Rosary Service at 7 p.m.

Melvo Anthony Majewski was born May 30, 1924, in Rural Greene, Butler County, the son of John Leo and Grace (Strong) Majewski and died Wednesday, August 1, 2012, at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City. He received his education in the Butler County country schools and attended St. Mary's Academy in Greene. On January 21, 1950, Melvo was united in marriage to Lorraine Kielman at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greene. This union was blessed with five children.

Melvo was a hard worker all of his life starting out as a farm hand at the age of 13. As an adult he went into farming for himself and farmed in the Greene area for 21 years. In 1970 he retired from farming and was employed by McGee Electric.

Melvo was a loving husband, father and grandfather whose life centered around his family. He had a good sense of humor and loved to tell jokes.

He enjoyed repairing small appliances, spent many hours grooming his lawn and took great pride in his garden. He liked polka music and had a special little canine companion 'Princess'.

Living family members include: his loving wife of 62 years, Lorraine, of Greene; five children: Randy (Karen) Majewski, Greeene, Rhonda (Stan) Pyatt, Greene, Rolynn 'Bud' Majewski, Greene, Renee (Brad) Davis, Ventura, Robert Majewski, Waverly; 10 grandchildren: Shane (Dawn) Batton, John (Danielle) Majewski, Mindy (Brian) Lund, Adam (Jan) Pyatt, Lauri Pyatt (friend, Sterling Smith), Sara Pyatt, Chelsi Majewski (friend, Devon Ackerson), Autumn Majewski, Shawn (Lindsay) Davis, Lindsay (Clark) Morgan; 12 great-grandchildren: Cameron, Keano, Shallon, Keegan, Kylie, Jayden, Bryce, Arianna, Savannah, Sawyer, Mack, Mya; 2 brothers: Melvin (Berdine Kielman) Majewski, (Melvo's Twin Brother), Lewis (Phyllis) Majewski, 2 sister-in-laws: Tilleen Litterer, Caroline Schafer; one brother-in-law: George (Daryls) Kielman Jr., many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Lloyd.
