Alphia H. Jones, 78, of Des Moines, Iowa, and formerly of Rockford, Iowa, died on Monday, June 28, 1993 at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held on July 1, 1993 at the Grarup Funeral Home in Sheffield, Iowa. Rev. D. Anderson of the Immanuel United Methodist Church in Des Moines will officiate. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City, Iowa.

Alphia was born on January 27, 1915 in Sheffield, to David and Anna (Holtz) Brown. She attended and received her education from the Sheffield School System.

She was united in marriage to Joseph Jones on September 2, 1933. After their marriage they farmed until going into business in 1941 owning and operating the Jones Lunch and Tavern. They retired in 1973 and moved to Des Moines. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and a member of the Immanuel United Methodist Church of Des Moines.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Don (Juanita) Schuster and Judy Jones, both of Des Moines; one brother, Richard Brown of Rockwell.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dick and Anna, her husband, Joe, and by three brothers: Elmer, Alvin and Delbert Brown.
