Lloyd C. Held, 88, of Mesa, Arizona, and formerly of Nora Springs, Iowa, and Mason City, Iowa, died on Friday, February 19, 1993 at Valley Lutheran Hospital in Mesa.

Graveside services were held Wednesday at Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery, Mason City, with the Rev. R. Pippert of the Nora Springs United Methodist Church officiating.

Lloyd C. Held was born on November 10, 1904, in Hansell, Iowa, to William R. and Ella (Krusemark) Held.

He married Mabel Woodley on October 9, 1923, at the Sheffield Evangelical parsonage. He enrolled in the Palmer Chiropractic College for two years. In 1940 he started farming near Nora Springs and farmed there until he moved into Nora Springs in 1954. He also ran Held Tiling Company in Nora Springs for 25 years. He moved to Arizona in 1991.

He was a member of the Nora Springs United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mabel Held, Mesa, Arizona; three sons: William L. Held and wife Alta May, Mason City, Thomas L. Held and wife Letty of Chicago, Illinois, and David D. Held and wife Dorothy of Phoenix, Arizona; two daughters, Virginia Doty and her husband Lee of Mesa, Arizona, and Darlene Held of Phoenix, Arizona; two sisters, Eva Hamilton and Ardis Grant, both of Glendale, California; and five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
