Adrian B. Dolan, 70, of Marble Rock, Iowa, died unexpectedly on Sunday, August 8, 1993, at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital, Charles City, Iowa, after being stricken at home.

A funeral Mass was celebrated Wednesday morning at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Roseville, Iowa. Monsignor Walter Brunkan, pastor, and Rev. Bernard Grady, former pastor, Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Waterloo, celebrated the Mass. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery, Roseville.

Adrian Bernard Dolan was born on July 2, 1923 near Cherlotte, rural Clinton County, Iowa, a son of John and Elizabeth (Brinkman) Dolan. The family moved to the Dougherty area when Adrian was a small child. He attended St. Patrick's School in Dougherty and Campion High School in Prairie Du Chein, Wisconsin. He returned home to help his father on the farm during World War II.

On June 7, 1944, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Roseville, he was married to Frances Marie Staudt. The couple made their home in the Roseville area.

Mr. Dolan was a longtime Roseville area farmer. He was also engaged in the purchasing, selling and transportation of grain.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Roseville, where he had served on the parish council and the school board. He was a charter member of the Marble Rock Lions Club, serving in various offices. He was a member of the board of directors of the Marble Rock Farmer's Co-op, also serving in various offices.

He was a 50-year member of the Knights of Columbus, Council #1409, of Charles City. He was a 4-H leader and a member of the Floyd County Beef Producers. He helped organize the Shell Rock Valley Little League. "Abe" Dolan was a devoted family man, and held an active interest in all sports.

Living family members include his wife, Frances, of Marble Rock; three sons and their wives: James and Donna Dolan of Pocahontas; David and Marilyn Dolan; and William and Joyce Dolan, all of Marble Rock. Also included are five daughters and their husbands: Annette and Earl Simonson of Charles City; Mary Jo and Chuck O'Neil of Des Moines; Patricia and Dale Parcher of Marble Rock; Jane and Thomas Saxen of Cedar Rapids; and Madonna and Thomas Bowie of Oskaloosa. He has two sisters, Mary Dolan of Nora Springs; and Carmilla Ullrich of Brookfield, Wisconsin; 23 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Raymond; seven brothers and one sister.
