Funeral services for Mrs. Janice Mae Bushbaum, 60, of Marble Rock, Iowa, were held Saturday, February 13, 1993, at the United Methodist Church in Marble Rock, with Rec. Shirley Meendering officiating. Interment of cremains will be in the Harlan Cemetery, rural Dumont at a later date. Reid's Funeral Chapel, Marble Rock, was in charge of arrangements.

Janice Mae Richard was born October 27, 1932 in Aredale, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Marguerite (Jorges) Richard. She died Tuesday, February 9, 1993 at St. Joseph's Mercy Hospital in Mason City, Iowa, from complications of cancer.

She received her education in the Aredale public schools. On July 3, 1948 she was united in marriage to Marvin Eugene Bushbaum, at the Presbyterian Manse in Greene, Iowa. Mr. and Mrs. Bushbaum lived in the rural Greene and Marble Rock areas until 1969 when they moved to their present home in Marble Rock.

Janice worked for the grocery store in Marble Rock from 1961 to 1977, when she purchased and operated the Family Cafe in Marble Rock until 1984. In recent years she has devoted her time helping Marvin with his trucking business and working part time for the Rockford Country Club.

She was a member of the Marble Rock United Methodist Church, where she served as treasurer for many years. She was active in the United Methodist Women, and was a member of the Marble Rock Study Club.

Janice will be remembered as a devoted mother and grandmother, who took interest in her family, and attended all the events and concerts in which her family was involved.

Living family members include her husband, Marvin of Marble Rock; four sons: Dallas and Sandy of Mason City, Kenny and Kathy of Rudd; Randy and Amber of Rockford; and Brian and Jennifer of Mason City; 13 grandchildren: Lance, Corey, Jason, James, Jennifer, Heather, Clint, Lindsy, Jonathon, and Sarah Bushbaum, Shannon Paulus and Jason Christenson; one great-grandchild, Christopher Bushbaum; and two brothers, Beryl Richard of Aredale and Daryl Richard of Oskaloosa.

She was preceded in death by a son, Richard; a grandson, Benjamin Eugene; her parents; and one brother, Delmar Richard.
