Christina Brunner, 77, of Marble Rock, died on Thursday, October 14, 1993, at her home. A funeral mass was held on Monday morning, October 18, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Roseville, with the Rev. Walter Brunkan officiating.

On Sunday afternoon a parish rosary and scriptural wake service were held at the Reid Funeral Chapel in Marble Rock. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Christina Barbara Schmitt was born on June 4, 1916, near Marble Rock, in Union township, a daughter of Mathias and Katherine (Merfeld) Schmitt. She received her education at St. Mary's School at Roseville. On June 25, 1946 she married Nicholas Mike Brunner at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Roseville. They first made their home in Marble Rock, and in 1950 moved to their farm near Marble Rock, where they remained until 1988 when they retired and moved back to Marble Rock.

She was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Roseville, and a member of the Rosary Society. As a pastime she enjoyed collecting recipes, cooking and sewing.

Living family members include her husband, Nick, of Marble Rock; one daughter, Kathryn and her husband Jerry Guenther of Charles City; four sons and their wives: Fred and Judy of Ames, Paul and Debbie of Marble Rock, Gene and Lloydene of Rockford, and John and Jean of Marble Rock; one sister, Stella Fuller of Lady Lake, Florida; and two brothers, Bernard Schmitt of Charles City and Edward Schmitt of Rockwell. There are 14 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers: Matt, Raymond and Mark; one sister in infancy; and two grandsons, Matthew Brunner and Aaron Guenther.
