FUNERAL SERVICES FOR ARTHUR ALLEN, 59, HELD IN CHURCH AT ROCKFORD
Rockford, Sept. 21 – Funeral services for Arthur Allen, 59, who died at his home here Friday evening, September 18th, were held today at the Methodist church in charge of the Rev. Charles E. Luce.
Arthur Allen was one of eight children born to Alfred and Elizabeth Allen, early settlers who lived northeast of Rockford on a farm.
On June 8, 1898, he was married to Helen Ruggles and they went to housekeeping on a farm adjoining his father’s and where they lived for 16 years. Because of ill health they went south where they remained for two years and in 1919 they went to Rapid City, South Dakota, where they resided four years. Feeling that he had recovered his health, they returned to the farm but his health compelled him to discontinue farming again and in 1928 they returned to town to make their home.
He is survived by his wife and four children; Alfred, Rapid City, South Dakota; Mrs. Gladys Tibbitts, Bassett; Mrs. Gladys Blum and Miss Norma Allen, Rockford; two brothers; Suel, Rockford; and Wallace, Wannamaker, South Dakota; and four sisters; Mrs. Ruby Perrine, Oklahoma City; Mrs. Almeda Blunt,Rudd; Mrs. Enola Elliot, Iowa City; and Mrs. Grace Lair, Rochester, Minnesota.
