RETIRED FARMER DIES; FUNERAL TO BE FRIDAY
Charles City – Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 1:30, at Grossmann’s Chapel, for Charles Julius Ponto, 62, who died early Wednesday morning at the Cedar Valley Hospital, following a 2 week’s illness. The Rev. Walter M Fritschel, pastor of the St. John’s Lutheran Church will officiate and interment will be in Riverside Cemetery.
Mr. Ponto was born January 25, 1883, in Floyd County, son of Mr. and Mrs. August Ponto. Mr. Ponto retired from the farm a number of years ago, due to ill health.
He is survived by his wife, Rose, a stepdaughter, Edna Ladd; 2 brothers, Herman and Frank, of Charles City.

Charles Julius Ponto was born January 25, 1883 in Floyd, Floyd Co., Iowa, the son of August and Hanna (Sacker) Ponto. (Iowa births and christenings).
He married Bertha May (maiden name unknown) . (1885-1920
In 1924 he married Rosa Belle (Belknap) Ladd , the widow of Penn Matlock Ladd.
