Rosa (Davis) Bill – March 26, 1889 – September 26, 1971

ROSA BILL RITES TO BE THURSDAY

Funeral services will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Charles City at 2 p.m. Thursday, September 30, for Rosa (Davis) Bill, 92, who died Sunday afternoon at the Salsbury Baptist Home in Charles City. Burial will be I Sunnyside Memorial Gardens near Charles City. Mrs. Bill had been living at the Salsbury Home since 1966.

Rosa Davis was born March 26, 1889, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Davis. She was married to Fred Bill of Roanoke, Illinois, December 23, 1908, at the home of her parents. The Bills moved from Illinois in 1921 to a farm near Colwell, in which vicinity they lived until moving to Charles City and retirement in 1945.

To this union 16 children were born, 14 of whom are still living. They are: Mrs. Mae Mackamul of Iowa City; Harvey Bill of Riceville; Mrs. Marvin Albrecht (Myrtle) of Greene; Mrs. Bob Parker (Clara) and Mrs. Wayne Wells (Florence), both of Washington State.

Also Mrs. James (Edith) Weidner and Mrs. Gerry Klossen (Violet) both from Genoa, Illinois; Lester Bill; Elmer Bill; Mrs. Irvin Logan (Dorothy); Mrs. Ward Conway (Elsie); Mrs. George Waddell (Grace); Mrs. Harold Diercks (Arlene) all from Charles City and vicinity.

Her husband, Fred Bill, and oldest son, Ernest, and a daughter, Lois, preceded Mrs. Bill in death. There are 35 grandchildren, five of whom also preceded Mrs. Bill in death; 81 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
