Laura (Hoeft) Betts Zimmerman 1884-1937

Following funeral services in Waterloo Saturday morning for Mrs. L. J. Zimmerman, 53, the body was brought to Riverside Cemetery, Charles City for burial Saturday afternoon.

Laura Hoeft Zimmerman was born in Charles City and was married here in 1901 to William Betts who died 15 years later.

She was married in 1918 to Louis Zimmerman and since then has lived in LaCrosse, Wisconsin and Waterloo.

Besides her husband the survivors are, a daughter; Mrs. Ermine Roehl, Dubuque; two sons, Marvin Betts, Waterloo; and Floyd Betts, Denver Colorado; three sisters and three brothers.

Mrs. L. J. Zimmerman, 53, a sister of Mrs. Ida Speedling of Nashua, died at her home in Waterloo Wednesday of last week.

She was a former resident of Charles City, and the body was taken to Charles City for burial Saturday, following funeral services in Waterloo.

She is survived by her husband, a daughter and two sons. Two other sisters and three brothers, besides Mrs. Speedling survive. They are Mrs. Amelia Kennengeiser, Riceville; Mrs. Mary Erdman, Charles City; Fred Hoeft, Waterloo; Charles, Floyd; and John Hoeft, Minneapolis.

After this had been set into type, we learned that Mr. Zimmerman died Monday, just five days after his wife’s death.

Laura Hoeft was born January 1884 in Iowa, the daughter of Carl and Matilda Hoeft. (parents names from 1925 Census for Laura Zimmerman, wife of Louis Zimmerman.
