Henry Albert Hoeft –August 16, 1883 – December 6, 1961

HENRY A. HOEFT DIES AT 78; RITES FRIDAY

Charles City – Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church for Henry Albert Hoeft, 78, a life-long resident of Floyd County. He died early Wednesday morning at the St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Waverly. Death was attributed to cancer. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery with the Grossmann-Hage Funeral Home in charge.

Born in Floyd County, August 16, 1883, he was the son of Albert and Sophia Krause Hoeft.

He was married to Anna Lubs in 1908. She died in 1910.

In February 1915, he was married to Ida Amelia Hobert, who died in 1946.

On August 8, 1948 he was married to Emma Dreyer Hobert, in the Lutheran parsonage in Charles City.

He was a retired farmer and a member of St. John Lutheran Church and of the church’s brotherhood.

Survivors include his wife, two step-sons; Marvin Hobert, rural Charles City; and Emil Hobert, Richmond, Caifornia; two step-daughters; Mrs. Fred Van Heuvelen, rural Plainfield; and Mrs. Harold Lessin, Charles City; six step grandchildren; and numberous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two wives, three children, and 14 brothers and sisters.
