Donald Dale McGee was born June 24, 1930, in Marble Rock, Floyd County, Iowa, a son of Vern C. and Margaret Ann (Clapham) McGee.

He received his education in the public schools, graduating from Greene High School in 1948. He worked on the family farm for two years before enlisting in the United States Air Force in 1950. He was honorably discharged in July of 1953. Don returned to Greene where he continued to farm until starting McGee Electric.

He was united in marriage to Jean Blow on February 11, 1953, in Lincoln, England. To this union was blessed four children. Don and Jean have been lifelong residents of Greene and are members of St. Peter Lutheran Church.

Don served as Scout-master for Troop 26 of Greene for approximately six years. He was a member of the Greene Volunteer Fire Department for 10 years, and was one of the original volunteers of the Greene Volunteer Ambulance. He was very sad to give up volunteering due to health issues.

Don always said that you don't get paid, but the riches you receive for your services are far greater than money could ever provide. He enjoyed playing cards, going out to dinner with his wife and friends, traveling, camping on the weekends and working.
