CHARLES CITY, IOWA - Norma J. Thomas, 86, of Charles City died Friday, February 10, 2012, at Cedar Health in Charles City.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14, at Messiah Lutheran Church, 705 Third Ave., Charles City, with Pastor Jane Keel officiating. Burial will be at Sunnyside Memory Gardens, rural Charles City. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 13, at Fullerton-Hage Funeral Home, 401 Blunt St., Charles City, and one hour prior to services at the church.

Norma was born October 18, 1925, in Plainfield, Iowa. She married William Thomas on Nov. 26, 1976. She spent most of her adult life living in Charles City, where she worked for Comprehensive Systems before retiring in 1981. Much of her time was spent working with Foster Grandparents, where she served for over 20 years and received numerous awards. She spent her last few years at Cedar Health, where she continued serving in a number of capacities.

Norma was preceded in death by her husband, William, in 2008, along with her parents.
Norma is survived by her two children, Dan "Samlee" (Dim) Monroe of Fort Worth, Texas, and Nancy (Dennis) Schriever of Marble Rock; brother, Lee (Betty) Bauman of Medinah, Illinois; and four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
