Armella "Mellie" Knapp

CHARLES CITY, IOWA - Armella "Mellie" Knapp, 72, of 1117 Walnut Ave., Charles City, died Saturday, February 4, 2012, at the 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City. Per her wishes, she will be cremated with private family services at a later date.

Mellie was born on April 11, 1939, at Osage, Iowa, the daughter of Claude and Velma Willsher. She was married to Carl Knapp on November 3, 1956, in Charles City. Mellie's life revolved around farming with her husband Carl and raising their three children.

Mellie is survived by her husband of 55 years, Carl; daughters, Cindi (Dennis) Shanks, Deb (Mike Pappas) Smith, and son Chuck (Deanne) Knapp; along with nine grandchildren.

Her parents, one grandchild, and one great- grandchild preceded her in death.

Condolences may be sent to the family at 117 Walnut Ave., Charles City, IA 50616. In lieu of flowers, memorial monies sent to the family will be given for Alzheimer's research.
