Helen B. O'Connor, 93, of the Salsbury Baptist Home, Charles City, Iowa, died on Saturday, May 14, 1994, at the FLoyd County Memorial Hospital following an extended illness.

A funeral mass was celebrated Tuesday morning at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City. Burial was in the Calvary Cemetery, Charles City, with Fullerton Hage Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. O'Connor, the former Helen Barbara Staudt, was born on February 6, 1901, in rural Marble Rock, the daughter of John and Barbara (Merfeld) Staudt. She attended school at St. Mary's Academy in Roseville. On July 5, 1943 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City, she married Phillip Francis O'Connor. He died on June 2, 1972.

Mrs. O'Connor was a former bookkeeper for the George P. Smith Lumber Company of Charles City. For many years she was the head bookkeeper at Salsbury Laboratories, retiring in 1961. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Rosary Society and St. Rose Circle. She was also a member of the American Legion Auziliary, Shannon-Wilson Post #174 of Charles City.

Living family members include two sisters-in-law, Barbara Staudt of Marble Rock and Ethel O'Connor of Sioux Falls, S. Dakota, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters.
