Walter F. Deets

Walter F. Deets, 79, formerly of Manly, died Thursday, July 21, 1994, at the Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Mason City.

Funeral services were held Monday morning at Bethel United Methodist Church in Manly, with the Rev. James Poulsen officiating. Burial was in the Park Cemetery at Nora Springs. Bride Colonial Chapel of Manly was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Deets was born May 6, 1915 at Cartersville.

Survivors include two sons: John Deets of Mason City, and Bernard Deets of San Antonio, Texas; three daughters: Gwen Shackleton of Manly, Judity Schotanus of Plymouth, and Leanna Anderson of Lake Mills; one brother, Darrell Deets of Nora Springs; six sisters: Dolly Christiansen of Mason City; Audrey Hewitt and Katherine Bahnsen, both of Nora Springs; Annabelle Christiansen of Osage; Mildred Austin of Mason City; and Laurine Kressin of Bloomer, Wisconsin.; one step-brother, Marshall Mumby, of Washington; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, stepmother, one son and six brothers.
