CHARLES CITY, IOWA - Effie Miller, 95, of Charles City, died Saturday, January 7, 2012, at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.

Funeral services for Effie Miller will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church. Pastor Dennis Niezwaag will officiate. Burial will be in Sunnyside Memory Gardens, rural Charles City. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City. Visitation will continue Wednesday at the church an hour prior to the service.

The Hauser Funeral Home, Charles City, 641-228-2323, is in charge of arrangements.

Effie Miller, 95, of Charles City, died Saturday, January 7, 2012, at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.

Visitation will continue Wednesday at the church an hour prior to the service.

Effie Marie Mehmen Bonsall Miller was born June 19, 1916, in Butler County, the daughter of Harm and Hannah (Cordes) Mehmen. She received her education from rural Floyd County schools. On May 16, 1934, she was united in marriage to Keith Bonsall. Keith died on August 17, 1971.

Effie married Gerald Miller on March 17, 1973. Gerald died on March 9, 2000. For seven years Effie worked at the Belmond Radio Plant and then for 20 years at Salsbury Laboratories. She was a member of Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Women of the Moose and V.F.W. Women's Auxiliary. Effie's greatest pastime was calling family and friends on the telephone. She always looked forward to sharing life's experiences with her family.

Living family members include three children, Donna (Ed) Stalker of Albert Lea, Minn., Duane (Beverly) Bonsall of Milan, Illinois and Barbara Goodsell of Des Moines; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; a brother, Herman Mehmen; and a sister, Ann Lampson.
