CHARLES CITY, IOWA - Robert J. Lux, 84, of Charles City, died Thursday, January 5, 2012, at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City. A visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Monday, January 9 at Fullerton Hage Funeral Home, 401 Blunt St., Charles City.

A private service will be held with burial at Sunnyside Memory Gardens.

CHARLES CITY, IOWA - Robert J. Lux, 84, of 317 Third Ave., Charles City, died January 5, 2012, at the Floyd County Medical Center, Charles City. A private family service will be held Jan. 10, with Father Carl Ries officiating. Burial will be at Sunnyside Memory Gardens, Charles City. Visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 9, at Fullerton Hage Funeral Home, 401 Blunt St., Charles City.

Robert was born on July 22, 1927, in Breckenridge, Minnesota, to Kenneth and Rose (Jolly) Lux. He attended the University of Northern Iowa. Upon graduation, he began his 33-year teaching career teaching English in the communities of Charles City, Garrison, Pleasant Valley and Bettendorf. He served as Principal of Charles City High School for 15 years before retiring in 1983.

Robert's passion for life included reading, shopping, and music. He enjoyed public speaking and was a noted commencement speaker. He was a collector who collected many things such as duck decoys, music and books. His favorite music was that of Duke Ellington. Robert was an avid sports fan, too, and loved cheering and following the Chicago Cubs and Bears.

Robert is survived by his two sons, Robert and William Lux; sister Beverly (Harold) Platts; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Joyce (Rink) in 1981; and wife Mary (Price) in 1987.
