Gene L. Gaiser, 51, of Nora Springs, Iowa, died on Wednesday, December 21, 1994, at North Iowa Mercy Health Center East, Mason City, Iowa.

Funeral services were held on Friday morning at Zion Lutheran Church, Rockford, with the Rev. J. Albrecht officiating. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Rockford, where full military honors were performed by the Offitt Air Force Base Honor Guard, Omaha, Nebraska. Sheckler Colonial Chapel, Nora Springs was in charge of arrangements.

Gene L. Gaiser was born on October 30, 1943, in Rockford, the son of Wesley Carl and Gladys Louise (Lines) Gaiser. He married Carolyn Romig on April 8, 1988 in Mason City.

Gene grew up in Rockford and attended school in Rudd, and graduated from Rockford High School in 1962. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1963, and made the Air Force his career for 20 years. He was administrative supervisor and served under many distinguished commanding officers. He retired as technical sergeant.

Mr. Gaiser enjoyed his many place of travel in the Air Force. Some of his tours were in Texas, Michigan, France, Japan, Hawaii, North Carolina, Thailand, Florida, Korea, Grand Forks, and temporary duty in Guam, South Carolina, North Carolina, Philadelphia and Gemany. After retirement, Mr. Gaiser worked at Armour Foods for six years, as a formulator blender.

He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, bowling and car racing. He was looking forward to the birth of his first grandchild.

Gene was a member of the Armour Union and Zion Lutheran Church, Rockford, where he had been baptized and confirmed.

Gene is survived by his mother, Gladys Gaiser of Rockford; his loving wife, Carolyn Gaiser of Nora Springs; his son, Derrick M. Gaiser of Cedar Rapids; his stepson, Shane T. Fingalsen and wife, Erin O'Rourke-Fingalson of Manhattan, Kansas; a step-daughter, Stephanie M. Fingalsen of Nora Springs; one sister, Marian Dight and her husband, Bob, of Charles City; one brother, Harold Gaiser and his wife, Barb, of Mason City; one brother-in-law, Michael Romig and his wife, Wilma, of Manly; two sisters-in-law, Christy Knapp and husband, Rick, of Nora Springs, and Pam Turner and her husband, Ken McCord, of Charleston, South Dakota; and many nieces and nephews.

Gene left this world to join his father, Wesley Gaiser, who died in 1991, and his mother-in-law, Edna Romig, who died in 1993.
