Albert Vols
CHARLES CITY — Albert Vols, 85, of Charles City, and formerly of Orchard, died Monday (April 23, 2007) at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City.
Albert was born October 17, 1921, on the family farm near Orchard, the son of Bruno and Emma (DeClark) Vols. Albert graduated from Orchard High School in 1939. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was awarded two bronze battle stars, after which he returned and farmed the family farm. Albert moved to Charles City in the late 1990s. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 28, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage with the Rev. John Moser officiating. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Osage with a flag presentation by the Orchard American Legion Post No. 641.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage, with a rosary at 5:15 p.m.
Albert is survived by his cousins, Raymond (Elza “Elsie”) Vols of Moline, Illinois, Robert Vols of Moline, Illinois; a special friend, Veronica Ballard, of Floyd, and her family, Barbara (John) Pint, of Mitchell, Bonnie (Larry) Pint of Osage, Linda (David) Hennagir of Griffith, Indiana, and Brenda Ballard of Greene.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
