CHARLES CITY, IOWA - Juanita H. Mehmen, 86, of Charles City, died Sunday, Nov. 20, 2011, at 9th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.

Funeral services for Juanita Mehmen will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday at Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church. Pastor Jane Keel will officiate. Burial will be in Sunnyside Memory Gardens rural Charles City. Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, and Friday at the church an hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church, 200 South Main, Charles City, IA 50616.

The Hauser Funeral Home, in Charles City, 641-228-2323, is in charge of arrangements.

Juanita H. Mehmen, 86, of Charles City, died Sunday, November 20, 2011, at 9th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.

Funeral services for Juanita Mehmen will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday at Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church. Pastor Jane Keel will officiate. Burial will be in Sunnyside Memory Gardens rural Charles City.

Juanita Helena White Mehmen was born October 10, 1925, at Nashua, the daughter of Matthew and Eva (Guhlow) White. She graduated from Nashua High School. On January 23, 1946, she was united in marriage to William Mehmen at Charles City. Over the years Juanita worked as a cook at various locations. She was a member of Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Saint John Lutheran Women's Ministries, Ladies Aide Circle and Christian Ones. Juanita was also past president and currently chaplain of the V.F.W. Auxiliary, first president of Cedar Rock chapter of School Food Service, Heritage Club, Senior Citizens, Christian Ones, Charles City Women's Club, Moose Lodge and had been a "Pink Lady" at Floyd County Medical Center.

Living family members include three children, Robert Mehmen of Nashua, Galen (Debra) Mehmen of Cedar Rapids and Debra (Jim) Tucker of Windsor Heights; a daughter-in-law, Janie Holub of Swisher; eight grandchildren, Lisa (Chris) Garden, Bill (Beth) Mehmen, Jenifer Mehmen, Brett (Angie) Mehmen, David Mehmen, Eric (Jillian) Faille, Andrew Mehmen and Grant Mehmen; 16 great grandchildren; two sisters, Cleo (Francis) Weisenstein of South Bend, Ind. and Laurel White of Waterloo; three brothers, Gil White, Art (Mary) White and Bruce (Carman) White all of Charles City; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband on February 21, 1994; a son, Terry Mehmen; a grandson, Lance Mehmen; a daughter-in-law, Vicki Mehmen; and a brother, Stanley White.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church, 200 South Main, Charles City, IA 50616.
