Dwight D. “Dewey” Clickner, Sr., age 56, of Nora Springs, Iowa, and formerly of Red Wing and Wabasha, died peacefully at Nora Springs Health Care Center with his loving family at his side.

He was born January 5, 1955 in Menomonie, Wisconsin, the son of William and Ardath (Amundson) Clickner. The family moved to Wabasha when he was young. He graduated from Wabasha High School in 1973. He then served eight years in the US Army, serving in Germany and Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

He married Marlene Pokrzywinski June 10, 1973 at Grace Memorial Episcopal Church in Wabasha. They later divorced. Dewey worked as an auto mechanic in Winona before becoming disabled because of a fall suffered in 1988.

He loved spending time with his family and many friends. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and he loved the outdoors. He led many fishing guides on the Mississippi River near his home in Wabasha. He had a great sense of humor and he brought a smile to the faces of those he touched.

Dewey is survived by his four children, Connie Clickner, Fountain City, Wisconsin, Dwight “Dewey” (Bonnie) Clickner, Jr., Winona, MN, Jennifer (Cory) Manning, Nora Springs, Iowa, Les (Kathy) Clickner, Winona, Minnesota; seven grandchildren, Derek, Courtney, Austin, Billy, Alicia, Alexis and Payton; brother, William (Lori) Clickner, Wabasha, Minnesota; sisters, Vida Martin, Owatonna, Minnesota, Myra Cichanowski, Orlando, Florida, Elizabeth (Lyle) Jacobsen, Wabasha, Minnesota, Rose (John) Shillingford, Rochester, Minnesota, Amanda Larson, Weaver, Minnesota; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Michael and Jeffrey.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at 11:00am at the Abbott Funeral Home in Wabasha with Pastor Don Muessigmann officiating. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery in Wabasha. Military rites will be performed by the Wabasha American Legion Post #50 and the Burkhardt-Roemer VFW Post #4086. Casket bearers will be Dwight Clickner, Jr., Les Clickner, David Clickner, Bill Clickner, Mike Squires, Rich Reinhardt and Ken and Lynn Mustain. Honorary bearers will be Billy Clickner and Derek Hanson. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5-8pm and one hour before the service on Wednesday. The Abbott Funeral Home of Wabasha is in charge of arrangements.
