BROWN, KOCK, CLARK, WYLAM, TEMPLE, HOWE, BIRKHOLZ

Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 11, 1986 at First Baptist Church in Osage for Hugo Brown, 92, of Osage. The Rev. C. Kary officiated, with burial in the Sunnyside Memory Gardens in Charles City. Mr. Brown died on Thursday, January 9, 1986 at Mitchell County Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Floyd County, Iowa, near Charles City, on September 7, 1893, the son of Ferdinand and Marie (Kock) Brown. He married Hazel Clark on February 4, 1913 in Charles City. She died in 1934.

Mr. Brown married Edith Wylam on January 28, 1941 in Waucoma. The couple farmed North of Charles City until 1959, when he retired and they moved to Osage.

For more than 30 years he served on various township school boards in FLoyd County. Mr. Brown was a past member of First Baptist Church of Charles City where he served on the Church board of trustees and board of deacons.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Hazel; his parents; one son, Veryl; two sisters; four brothers; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, edith of Osage; three daughters: Mrs. Harley (Norma) Birkholz of New Haven; Mrs. Shirley Temple of Charles City, and Mrs. Bernadine Howe of Rockford; one son, Eldon Brown of New Hampton; 13 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
