Funeral services for Herman H. Heinzerling, 90, of Rockford, Iowa, were held on Saturday, March 9, at Holy Name Catholic Church in Rockford. Rev. J. Sullivan officiated with burial in Riverside Cemetery, Rockford. He died on Thursday, March 7, at a Mason City hospital following a brief illness.
Herman H. Heinzerling was born on June 1, 1894, in Baumbach, Germany, to Conrad and Catharina Brandau Heinzerling. He worked as a shoemaker in Germany before coming to the United States in February, 1913.
He worked on farms in the Osage and Nora Springs areas for many years. He married Minnie R. Paulus on November 24, 1925 at Holy Name Catholic Church in Rockford. They farmed in the Rockford and Stacyville area before moving into Rockford in 1952. He then was employed by Rockford area farmers as a farm hand and later by the Floyd County Highway Commission. They moved to Osage in 1976 where they resided until 1981 when they returned to Rockford. He was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church in Rockford.
Survivors include his wife, Minnie; four daughters: Mrs. Joe (Helen) Firsching of Taopi, Minnesota, Mrs. Keith (Anna) Adams of Stacyville, Mrs. Duane (Betty) Vaage of Osage, and Barbara J. of Mason City; a son, Elmer of Lake Mills; 21 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
