Harold R. Schmidt, 72, RR1, Charles City, died Monday morning, November 26, 1979, at a Rochester, Minnesota hospital following a heart attack Friday evening.

Services for Harold Schmidt will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Hauser Funeral Home. Rev. Karl Watkins, pastor of West St. Charles United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in West St. Charles Cemetery, Friends may call at Hauser Funeral Home after 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Harold Reuben Schmidt was born September 4, 1907, in St. Charles Township, Floyd County, the son of Henry and Georgia (Haskins) Schmidt. He was educated in rural schools near his home and on September 17, 1930, he and Lulla E. Vandeventer were married at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Harold farmed west of Charles City and was a life long resident of Floyd County. He was a member of the West St. Charles United Methodist and the Farm Bureau.

Surviving is his wife, Lulla of rural Charles City, two sons, Kenneth of rural Charles City and Arnold of Charles City; a sister Mrs. Dale (Florence) Keifer of rural Charles City; two brothers, Leonard Schmidt of Holmen, Wis., and Leslie Schmidt of Waterloo. There are ll grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
