VIOLA SCHROEDER
CHARLES CITY, IOWA - Viola Schroeder, 76, of 107 Park Ave., died Wednesday (Aug. 28, 2002) at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday at the Hauser Funeral Home, 1205 S. Main Ave., Charles City, with the Rev. Dennis Niezwaag, pastor of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Charles City.
Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until service time on Friday.
Viola Virginia Debban Schroeder was born April 22, 1926, at Milwaukee, Wis., the daughter of Oscar and Ida (Ahlmann) Debban. She graduated from the New Hampton High school in 1943.
On August 12, 1944, she was united in marriage to Russell Schroeder at Austin, Minnesota. They have farmed for many years near Charles City. Viola was a member of St. John Lutheran Church. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, working with the animals on the farm, antiquing and going to auctions. Viola was very family orientated. She liked cooking family favorites, making holidays and birthdays special occasions and attending family gatherings.
Living family members include her husband, Russell, of Charles City; five children, "Ginny" Horton and husband, Roger, of New Hampton, Russell Schroeder Jr. and wife, Vicky, Gary Schroeder, Tamara Sutton and husband, Roger all of Charles City, and Devon Schroeder and friend, Evelyn, of Las Vegas, Nev.; four grandchildren, DeDra Smith, Joshua Schroeder, Rod Starkey and Benjamin Jon Schroeder; two great-grandchildren, Samuel McCarty and Niklas Smith; two sisters, Lillian Bartz and husband, Ed, and Josie Cassel, both of Rochester, Minn.
Viola leaves to join her parents; two brothers, Melvin Debban and Oscar Debban Jr.; and two sisters, Eunice Lloyd and Violet Debban, who died in infancy.
The family suggests memorials be directed to Hospice of North Iowa, Charles City site.
