Irene F. Bublitz, 95, of Charles City and formerly of Grafton, died Monday morning, July 4, 2011, at the 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.

Funeral services for Irene Bublitz will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City. Pastor Ronald Bolinger of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Grafton will officiate. Burial will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, rural Grafton.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday and after 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Irene Flora Ingersoll was born February 24, 1916, in Worth County, the daughter of Frank and Emma (Krueger) Ingersoll. On May 5, 1935, she was united in marriage to Harvey Bublitz. Irene worked hard raising her children and helping on the farm. She also helped with the Grafton Newspaper and cooked for the senior citizens in Grafton. She was a very active member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Grafton.

Her interests included quilting, reading, oil painting, writing, crafting and growing flowers. Irene was very devoted to her family and friends and was always willing to help others.

Living family members include her six granddaughters, Dawn (Bob) Gansen of Elma, Jo (Ron) Dugan of Floyd, Janice Schmidtke of Mason City, Connie (Kent) Vrieze of Floyd, Valerie (Tom) Schrage of Cedar Falls and Lisa (Jason) Kvam of Burnsville, Minn.; grandson, Eric (Elinore) Bublitz of Austin, Minn.; five great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Naomi Ingersoll of Manly, Leola Wilde of St. Ansgar and Fay (David) Thompson of New Mexico; and a brother, William "Bill" (Bernice) Ingersoll of Grinell.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 1986; son, Harley Bublitz in 1995; daughter, Gloria Stevenson in 2010; and siblings, Elsie Ingersoll, Everett Ingersoll, Elaine Deets, Wayne Ingersoll and Wilmer "Glenn" Ingersoll; infant brother, Donald Ingersoll, and infant sister, Marion Ingersoll.
