DOROTHY E. SHERMAN

NORA SPRINGS, IOWA - Dorothy E. Sherman, 86, of Nora Springs, died Saturday (June 22, 2002) at the Nora Springs Care Center.

A private service will be held at the Sheckler Colonial Chapel, 114 North Hawkeye, Nora Springs, with the Rev. Jay Amundson officiating. Burial will be in the Park Cemetery in Nora Springs. The family of Dorothy E. Sherman has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Nora Springs Care Center, or to Hospice of North Iowa in her memory.

Dorothy E. Sherman was born on December 20, 1915, in Marble Rock, the daughter of Albert and Elsie (DeLong) Stauffer. She attended and received her education in the Greene Community School system, graduating from Greene High School. Dorothy also attended and received her teaching certificate at the Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls.

After receiving her teaching certificate, she taught school for several years in the Orchard and Nora Springs schools.

She was united in marriage to Francis L. Sherman on March 21, 1942. He preceded her in death on December 22, 1988.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Nora Springs.

Left to cherish her memory is a son, Roger Sherman and his wife, Corine, of Brookfield, Wis.; two grandchildren, Jeffrey Sherman, of Milwaukee, Wis., and Julie Baker and her husband, Mac, of Chicago, Ill.; one brother, Neil Stauffer, of Clarksville; many nieces and nephews; as well as other relatives and friends.

Besides her husband Francis; her parents; and a sister, Bernice Stauffer, also preceded her in death.
