Leo Pepper

Funeral services for Leo P. Pepper, age 82, of Floyd, were held Wednesday, December 26 at Hauser Funeral Home, Charles City. Mr. Pepper died Saturday, December 22, 1984 in a Charles City nursing home.

Reverend A. C. Wegner, Jr., pastor of Faith Bible Chapel, officiated at the service with burial in Riverton Cemetery.

Mr. Pepper was born May 19, 1902, in Pleasant Grove Township, Floyd County, to Charles and Clementine (Kivel) Pepper. He was educated in Charles City and Colorado schools and attended Sweeney Auto School in Kansas City, Missouri.

On March 5, 1928 he married Ruth E. Shave; she was killed in a car-train accident in 1947. On November 24, 1978 he married Nina Runger in Charles City. Mr. Pepper ran Pepper Auto Repair in the Charles City area for 58 years.

Leo was a member of Faith Bible Chapel and the Moose Lodge.

Survivors include his wife Nina, Floyd; a son, Darwin Burlington; a daughter, Deloris Gillespie, Belton, Missouri; two sisters, Mrs. Sara Trainer and Mrs. Lola Padgett, both of Karval, Colorado; a brother, Charles, Hugo, Colorado; and 12 grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren.
