CHARLES CITY, IOWA - Glen W. Frey, 88, of Charles City, died Monday (Dec. 24, 2001) at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, 200 S. Main St. in Charles City, with the Rev. Dennis Niezwaag officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyside Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. on Friday at Fullerton Hage Funeral Home, 401 Blunt St. in Charles City. There will be further visitation one hour prior to services on Saturday at the church.

Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to direct memorials to the Salvation Army Bed and Bread Fund.

CHARLES CITY - Glen W. Frey, as, of Charles City, died Monday Dec. 24, 2001, at home of natural causes.

Survivors include his wife, Gertrude "Gert;" four daughters: Mary Ann Bartz of Forest City, Laura Usher of Charles City, Barbara Schneider of Waverly and Carol Matz of Waterloo; 10 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; five sisters: Gertrude Witt of Elkader, Bernice Frey, Lavanna Frey, Adelaine Biedermann and Marlys Stille.

He was preceded in death by a son, Arvid; and four brothers: Kenneth, Russell, Harley and Martin.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Charles City, with burial in Sunnyside Memory Gardens, rural Oelwein; friends may call until 5 p.m. today at Fullerton Hage Funeral Home, Charles City, and for an hour before services Saturday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Salvation Army Bed and Bread Fund.

Mr. Frey attended Palmer Barber College, Cedar Rapids, and worked as a barber for several years; from 1937 to 1939 he owned and operated a restaurant in Edgewood and for many years worked in specialty advertising sales and for 12 years owned and operated the red popcorn wagon during the summer months; he was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
