ALAN L. KOEHLER

CHARLES CITY - Alan L. Koehler, 52, of 2526 Woodland Dr., died Saturday (Jan. 13, 2001) at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Hauser Funeral Home, 1205 S. Main St., Charles City, with the Rev. Solomon Odoom, pastor of Grace United Methodist Church in Floyd, officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery at Charles City.

Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday at Hauser Funeral Home where the family will greet friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Visitation will continue from 9 a.m. until the time of the service Tuesday.

Alan Lee Koehler was born Aug. 27, 1948, at Charles City, the son of Roland and Evonne (Carter) Koehler. He graduated from Charles City High School in 1966 and from Iowa State University in Ames in 1970.

On July 5, 1975, he and Sharon Mesch were married at Austin, Minn.

He worked for 10 years at White Farm Equipment Corp., worked on his uncle's farm for 12 years, sold feed for two years and for 14 years drove refrigerated semi for Wilson Trucking of Rochester, Minn.

Alan was in 4-H, FFA, and was involved in agriculture in college. He liked to camp and play cards and go to Country Fest in Wisconsin every year. He loved country music and going dancing, enjoyed Fan Fair, Nashville, and loved to take the grandchildren camping and watching the Green Bay Packers football.

Living family members include his wife, Sharon, of Charles City; three daughters and their husbands, Michelle and Andy Clemen of Manchester, Sherrie and Dan Zieman of Rockwell and Christina and Jeff Hackman of Charles City; a son and his wife, Ross and Shannon Koehler of Floyd; 12 grandchildren, Ashley, Adam, Kaleigh and Samantha Clemen, Jess, Jacob and Mindy Zeiman, Christopher, and Brianna, Katelyn, Cassandra and Shana Hackman; and two brothers, Steve Koehler of Nora Springs and Dennis and Connie Kochler of Waverly.

Alan was preceded in death by his parents; an uncle, Merlyn Koehler; a father-in-law, Earl Mesch; and a great niece, Amanda McDonald.
