Cathy D. Johnson, 62, of San Antonio, Texas, formerly of Charles City, died Thursday, March 3, 2011, in San Antonio, Texas.

Funeral services for Cathy Johnson will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City. Pastor David Werges of Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery at Charles City.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and an hour prior to the service on Wednesday.

Cathy Diane Johnson was born September 25, 1948, in Charles City, the daughter of Arnold and Marian (Flowers) Johnson. She graduated from Charles City High School in 1966, attended Concordia College, the University of Iowa and received her Bachelors Degree from Lea College in Albert Lea, Minn. In her early years she worked summers in various national parks where she enjoyed the great outdoors. For 34 years Cathy worked for the Animal Defense League in San Antonio where she was able to help rescue animals, with her special interest being cats. She was currently working at Ft. Sam Houston Medical Center. Cathy loved animals especially cats and also had an interest in photographing old barns. Summer trips back to Iowa were always very special not only for her but for the whole family who always looked forward to her visits. Cathy appreciated spending time with her nieces and nephews as they were all very special to her.

Living family members include her mother, Marian Johnson of Charles City; three sisters, Carol (Paul) Sensor of Hampton, Deb (Jeff) Tudor of Thornton and Kim (Tory) Menken of Charles City; nine nieces and nephews, Kellen and Ingrid Sensor, Angie, Fletcher (Miaka) and Chelsea Tudor, Zachary (Becky) and Kyle Schilling, and Hunter and Hannah Menken; and four great nieces and nephews, Audrey, Aislynn, Joseph and Kylee.

She was preceded in death by her father in 1995; and an infant sister, Connie in 1955.
