Receive word
of death of
Ruth Demo

Word has been received of the death of Mrs. Claude (Ruth) Demo who passed away in a nursing home in Medford, Oregon.

Ruth Demo was a former resident of Nora Springs and while here the Demos had a cafe. They then moved to Waysetta, Minn. and from there to San Pedro, California. After her husband's death she moved to Oregon to be near her son Rex.

She was preceded in death by her husband and one son, Verle. Surviving are her daughter, Mrs. Lee (Valada) Bowen, of San Pedro, California: and son Rex, of Ashland, Oregon; and two sisters.

She was a member of the Nora Springs Rebekah Lodge No. 438 of which she would have been a 60-year member June 3.

She was an aunt of George (Bud) Marshall and Mrs. Pearl Lunde of Nora Springs.

(May 10, 1976)

NOTE: Ruth was found in the 1940 Census, living in Nora Springs with her husband Claude, and (I believe it says) a son Rex. Its hard to read since the enumerator started (apparently) to right "Daughter Valada" and then wrote over it. Nice work. Anyway, Ruth was age 43, so she was born about 1897.

In 1940, Claude was age 47, and the child was 16.

The Social Security Death Index shows Rex Demo:
Rex C. Demo 18 Feb 1924 4 Oct 1985
97520 Ashland, Jackson, Oregon, USA

So, since the child in the census was 16, Rex is probably that child.

The Census also lists a daughter, Valada R. Thronson, age 21 and widowed.
