Rites Friday For
Fred W. Ueker

Funeral services for Fredrick William Ueker, 84, were held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Saint Luke Lutheran Church, Rev. Amedee Fredette officiated. Burial was in the Park Cemetery, with the Sheckler Funeral Home in charge.

Mr. Ueker died in his sleep Wednesday morning at his home.

He was born March 21, 1883, at Grafton the son of August and Augusta (Schlosser) Ueker. He came to Nora Springs in 1904, and has lived here since, except for a year spent at Randall, Minn. He was married to Anna Gashel June 6, 1906. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary last year with a quiet reception for relatives and close friends.

Before retirement, Mr. Ueker operated a garage and was a Chevrolet dealer, he was on the school board for over 25 years, a member of the town council for many years, one of the organizers of the Nora Springs Volunteer Fire Department, and an active member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church until he was confined to his home with arthritis.

Survivors are his wife, Anna, a daughter, Mrs. Jack (Marian) Strobel, Greene; two sons, Donald, Mason City, and Wayne, Nora Springs; a brother, John Ueker, Grafton; two sisters, Mrs. George Frese and Mrs. Fred Frese, both of Nora Springs; five grandsons, Harlan Kreider, San Jose, Calif., Robert Kreider, Wichita, Kans., James and Richard, Mason City; Bruce Ueker, Nora Springs, and a granddaughter, Jody Ueker, and a great grandson, Leighton Kreider.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, five sisters and a grandson.

Lloyd Anderson, Wayne Enfield, Lloyd Gashel, Arnold Volkman, Elmer Fingalsen, Roy Carlson, Melvin Manning and Bruce O'Brien were casket bearers. Members of the Town Council marched in a body. Mrs. Roy Kraupa was soloist, accompanied by Karen Squier as organist. Mrs.Leona Munger and Mrs. Carl Petersen were in charge of the flowers.
