Stanley L. Haynes of Mason City, pastor of the Nora Springs Church of Christ, officiated at the last rites for Miss Ida Straube, 83, who died Wednesday, December 5, in the Rest Haven nursing home in Mason City, where she had been a patient since October, 1944. The services were held in the Sheckler funeral home at 2 o'clock last Friday afternoon, December 7, and burial was in Park cemetery, Nora Springs.

Serving as casket bearers were Nels Jacobson, Virgil Gast, A. J. Quinby, Harry Clifford, Carl Behne, and Carl Crowell. Mrs Sturgis Morphew and Mrs. Eugene Cheney sang "In The Garden" and "No Night There," accompanied by Mrs. Fred Clark as pianist.

Was 83 Years Old.

Miss Straube, a daughter of Solomon and Sophie Juliana Straube, was born in West Granville, Wisconsin, on May 16, 1862, and had attained the age of 82 years, six months and 19 days at the time of her death.

In 1866 she moved to Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, with her parents, and spent her childhood there. In 1878 the family came to Iowa, locating on a farm north of Nora Springs. In 1905 with her father and sister, Bertha, she moved to Nora Springs.

Lived Alone For 10 years.

Her mother succumbed in 1892 and her father in 1908, leaving her alone with her sister Bertha. Bertha's death occured in August, 1934, after which time Ida resided by herself in her home until a little more than a year ago when infirmities caused by her advancing years necessitated constant care and she was moved to Mason City. A brother, Robert Straube, preceded her in death in April, 1926.

Surviving her are a nephew, Arthur Straube; a niece, Mrs. Ida Eng, both of Nora Springs; and another niece, Mrs. Nellie Adams of Wakefield, Nebr. as well as four grand nephews and three grand nieces.
