Reed Home Thursday

Mrs. W. D. "Dey" Reed, 79, died Monday morning, Oct. 15, at the home of Mrs. Conrad Olson in Northwood,where she had been cared for the past two years.

Funeral services were held at the Reed home here at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon, Oct. 18, with the Rev. David Lang, pastor of the Evanglical church, in charge. Casket bearers were Conrad Olson, Fred Allum, Elsworth Treloar, John Shanks, Everett Huffman and Howard Treloar. Burial was in Rock Grove cemetery, by the side of her husband.

Mrs. Reed, the former Mary T. Huffman, was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Huffman. She was born in Hasting county, Ontario, Canada on June 15, 1866.

She came to Floyd county, Iowa, in 1871, and in April 1896, was married to William D. Reed, who preceded her in death in January 1943. They operated a farm north of Nora Springs, living there until 1923. In that year they moved to Nora Springs. Mr. Reed continuing to supervise his farm until the time of his death.

Mrs. Reed's health was failing at the time of her husband's death but she remained in her home
here for sometime. Later she was moved to the Olson home at Northwood, where she continued to reside until her death.

She was a member of the Methodist church for many years and was known for her strong religious convictions. She was a pioneer member of the Crescent club and was active in social circles and interested in the numerous worth-while projects of the community.

Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Lydia Valler of Los Angeles, Calif., and Mrs. Sarah L. Haynes, at present of Northwood; one brother, Edwin Huffman, also of Los Angles; other relatives and many old friends.
