Virgil Duane Deets
Killed In Action,
Parents Informed

ROCK FALLS

Mr. and Mrs. Ben Deets received a telegram from the war department Friday informing them that their son, Virgil Duane Deets, Ph. M. 2c. of the U.S. Navy, had lost his life in action in the Pacific.

Pharmacist's mate Deets who had reached the age of 26, entered the service in February 1942, after having received his education in the schools of Falls township.

Two brothers are in the service, both in the Navy, Ward W. Deets, R3c, and Darrell Deets, MM1c.

The survivors include his father and stepmother; six brothers, the two mentioned about and Wilbur Deets of Nora Springs, Walter of Mason City and Clayton and Emmett at home; and six sisters, Mrs. Dolly Christiansen, Ventura, Mrs. Audrey Hewitt, Mrs. Katherine Bahnsen and Mrs. Annaelle Christiansen, all of Nora Springs and Mildred and Laurine at home.

The Deets family had had no word from Virgil since November, 1944.
